Q & A with Co-founder Anna

Anna

Anna is the daughter of the team. Anna graduated from the London College of Fashion with a degree in Fashion Management and has worked in retail ever since, mainly as a marketing guru!

Tell us a little about yourself…..

For the last 10 years since graduating, I’ve been employed within the marketing departments of various retail head offices across the country. I’ve worked for high end luxury brands, high street retailers, public sector organisations, and within the glamourous financial industry – a real mixed bag!

My free time is usually taken up with playing netball several times a week, along with supporting my husband in his role as a football referee.
Why did you decide to start a business?

Ever since I graduated, I’ve always wanted to run my own business, but now, with our combined mother and daughter skills, I feel we can really develop something special!
How did you come up with the name ‘Holme & Moss’?

Well, this took quite a while! In the end, inspiration came in the form of the wonderful views that we both see every day from our homes – the majestic Holme Moss and it’s surrounding landscape – a natural beauty that we hope will be reflected in our collection!
What makes Holme & Moss different?

We will be creating handmade, premium quality clothing and accessories that are timeless classics for all generations. We are not concerned with the latest fashion trends; we just want to incorporate prints and styles that suit everyone – so if you feel like embracing the mini-me look with your daughter or granddaughter, you can!
Do you have a personal favourite product?

I am in love with the women’s tops that we sell – about 10 years ago my mum made one for me in the Liberty fabric, and it is still a staple top that I wear throughout the year. The fabric is soft and lightweight and has survived countless washes to still look as good as new!
Do you sell your products through this website only?

No – you can also purchase our products from our Etsy store, and we are looking to list on Folksy and Notonthehighstreet.com in the not too distant future.
What is the most rewarding part of running your own business?

We are still in the early stages, but the whole process of setting it up has been a lot of fun! From the research and development, product ideas and designs, to the branding, website and photoshoots, it has finally all come together – we are so excited to share it with you!
What has been the most challenging part of the Holme & Moss journey so far?

After all the hours of research, development , investment and late nights, the doubts that start to creep in! But we know that we have stayed true to our brand, and created products that we would love to buy – we hope you will love them too!
What next for Holme & Moss?

We already have so many exciting ideas for clothing and accessories that we can’t wait to show you – we may just need to conjure up a few more hours in the day to create them all!

Anna and Kate, thank you for creating the two superb, cool Liberty Lawn T-tops. They fit perfectly. An L (for 5’4" and about an Australian size 16, but narrower hips). The finishing is perfect and the length is perfect — no chance of gaping. kind regards, Jane B
